An open letter to Aamir Khan

Aamir you can afford to leave India not others!

Aamir Khan your wife has been suggesting to leave India due to increasing intolerance along with the family for safety of your child ! You say that is a big and disastrous statement for Kiran to make. I agree with you that it is a big and disastrous statement but the problem is that you seem to be in agreement with her. You didn't try to reassure her.
For you and your wife your child is important, but for million others their children are important and the problem is they have not made millions like you. So they can not look towards greener pastures like you. A majority of them can not even think of leaving this country. They were born here, they will die here irrespective of what happens to their children.Despite of all talks of despondency by you they have to earn their bread and butter here itself and have to train their children for the same here itself. When 1969 riots happened in Gujarat, when Bhagalpur happened in 1989, when Muslims were butchered by state forces in Maliana and Hashimpura, when Sikhs were butchered in 1984, when Kashmiri Pandits were driven out of their homes in their own country and when Gujrat 2002 and Mujaffarnagar 2013 happened, they all- Hindus,Muslims and Sikhs faced it with forbearance and rose in life to make their lives again. Even today they have got no justice, but still have some hope for the future. They never talk of leaving this country rather they struggle everyday.
During my journeys to Delhi from Bareilly on Intercity Express a lot of Muslims used to board It at Gajraula,Amroha and many other small stations towards Delhi. I used to listen their discussions which had a certain element of worries of Muslim world. But they all used to agree ultimately that there is no country like India in the world which welcomes all the religions with both hands. India is made up of millions of these people- Hindus,Muslims, Christians as well as Sikhs- majority of them marginalised- who never lost hope on the idea of India and it survives due to them. It is God's Grace that its survival is not dependent on people like you whose wives sitting in one of the world's most costly locations in posh bungalows and flats with armed security guards around suggest that India has become a banana republic and people living luxurious life should leave the country.
As I read the news item about you, I see your photograph in the corner on the occasion of Id with your wife Kiran and child Azad in jovial mood enjoying festivities and I don't see even a shred of fear. It is very easy to sit in safe and luxurious environs and condemn your country and its people telling they have become intolerant but difficult to do something really worthwhile for the country.
I don't think you are not aware of your potential. People of this country have showered their so much love and affection upon you. Had you given call for a cause they would have stood behind you . Had you led, they would have marched in hordes. You can have direct access to Prime Minister. You could have put up problems before him and given suggestions. Instead of that you preferred to malign the country and its people .
When you say intolerance has increased in the last six-eight months, you mean people have changed. They have become intolerant from tolerant. I don't think it is so. People are the same. Their thoughts are same. Country is same.Since rightists are in power, right and ultra-right forces have become more assertive. But it doesn't mean that people and country have changed. They are the same very people who loved you, who made you a star. Please don't blame them for the statements of some insane right wingers and stray communal incidences. Pl. don't give a chance to enemies of the country to laugh over us. India has survived and overcame far more serious communal disturbances and challenges. India has made you great, you help it in achieving greatness.
