Speech of Kanhaiya Kumar after his bail - Revisited.

~ Speech of Kanhaiya Kumar after his bail - Revisited ~

"Is it wrong to ask for azadi from the problems that are existing in the country? Brothers, it's not from India, but it's in India that we are seeking Azadi . And there is difference between 'from ' and 'in'. The Azadi we are asking for is from starvation and poverty, from exploitation and torment; for the rights of Dalits, tribals, minorities and women. And the azadi we will ensure through this very constitution, Parliament and judiciary. This was Baba Saheb's dream, and this is Comrade Rohith's (Vemula) dream."- Kanhaiya Kumar as quoted by TOI

My comment: Brother, certainly it is not wrong to ask for azadi from the problems that are existing in the country ! But it is wrong if you camouflage aspirations of those who want azadi from India as azadi from problems existing in the country. It is wrong when you provide a platform to the separatists or let them hijack your platform for their purposes and provide a respectability to their cause from the Sanctum Santorum of a respected institution like J N U. For that you should accept responsibility. Gandhiji stopped non-cooperation movement after Chaurichaura happened.

You are quoting Baba Saheb but forget that he was firmly opposed to separatist politics. When you quote Baba Saheb and Rohith Vemula along with, YOU forget that Baba Saheb was a great fighter who never surrendered before adversities. He fought all the odds and made a place for himself or rather you can say, snatched the place for himself. Despite of all the problems he faced in life due to caste barrier, he did not have any grudge towards anyone. When he was entrusted with the responsibility of Drafting Constitution, he gave his best to the country. Rohith can not be placed on the same pedestal. Fighter in him surrendered before adversities. When I'm writing this piece, I know the risks involved and ready to face consequences. If any adversity is presented before me I would fight and not surrender. So when Rohith championed a cause, he should have fought and not surrendered.

When you say you have full faith in constitution and stand by the preamble please don't quote those as your ideals who espoused or espouse cause of separatists. I believe you on your words and also that you don't support the separatist cause and also that your programme was hijacked by separatists. If any democratic element is ready to give any leverage to separatists, separatists  are ready to use him as a pawn in their game under the garb of democracy.

There are crores of Dalits in this country who love this country despite of all their problems. They don't support dismemberment of this country and would never ally with separatists.Baba Saheb is their ideal but certainly no person having sympathy for separatists can be their ideal.

"When I was in jail, I got two bowls - one was blue coloured, and the other red.I was looking at those bowls and thinking- I don't believe in fate, neither I do have faith in God.But a red bowl and a blue bowl on the same plate means something good is going to happen in the country. That plate looked like India to me; the blue bowl the Ambedkar movement and the red bowl the left movement. I felt that if the two movements unite.....we will form a government that ensures justice for all. We will establish. 'sabka sath sabka vikas' in the real sense" (Kanhaiya Kumar as quoted in TOI)

My comment: So ultimately left has got its own social engineer. So far every party has been trying social engineering as an easy way of getting votes in hordes. But communists had not tried this so for. They talked of poors and classes. Now Kanhaiya Kumar sees left as such a big movement that by making Dalits only ride the band wagon of left he would be able to see the left through the elections and even be able to form a Govt. Here he seems too much optimistic to me and it also seems that the optimism has made him myopic. First of all left needs to be taken to the level that by having only Dalits on its side it is able to get majority. Seeing left's downward slide in the last decade it seems improbable. Secondly getting Dalits on the communist bandwagon is not that much easy. They already have their political affiliations and not going to leave it in favour of someone only because he says Rohith Vemula is his ideal. The way Kanhaiya Kumar talks of social engineering, to me he seems like other politicians and not different from them. Moresover, for this he is ready to dump class theory of communism and folllow in Lohiya's shoe steps ,so he doesn't seems committed to communist ideology either. So I don't see as much promise in him , as much is being seen by the media.

"Afzal Guru. ......was punished as per the law of land and the same law permits citizens to discuss that punishment. (Kanhaiya Kumar as quoted in TOI)"
